Embroidery Hoops, altered with “Anemone” Paper Collection

“Without playing with fantasies, no creative work has ever yet come to birth”. Innovative people not only build up castles in the air but are also blessed with fortitude to turn things into reality. There are so many household items that go into junk, how about using it for decorating your home? On the same ground, one thing that kept hovering on my mind is the embroidery hoops. How about giving it an innovative touch?? A bit of brainstorming and I finally came up with an idea of converting the embroidery hoops into a decorative piece or may be into a photo frame. While looking out from where to start, I hopped over to my DT kit this month in which I received the gorgeous pattern paper collection from Bob n Betty, ANEMONE…woven in the fascinating shades of blue.

So let’s get started with the making of this wonderful project.

Firstly I applied gesso on the embroidery hoops and made use of 2 sheets from Anemone stack to sketch out the hoops. Cut and pasted them behind the hoops.

Once this was dry, I placed both the hoops in desired style and secured them in place using fevibond.

The same paper stack was used to make the photomats. I was totally enthralled by the lace design on the paper and used tacky tape to secure them.

Anemone stack has some gorgeous flower patterns that I fussy cut and place them in the required shape.

02

Then I added laces and flowers to make some clusters and added resin and metal embellishments from my stash.

To give it a finishing touch, I gave a coat of gesso using a dry brush and also added few water drops down the gesso.

Perhaps the altered embroidery hoops can be used as a decorative piece or a photo frame capturing those special moments of life.

This collection has 8 designs, available in 6″x6″ and 12″x12″ inches. you may follow the link to check out these gorgeous papers at http://www.shopbobnbetty.in/browse/anemone

I was mesmerized with the outcome. Hope you too like enjoyed the complete process.

Mini Envelope Album made with “Voyager” Paper Collection

Traveling turns you into a storyteller; it let you regulate your imagination by reality, and instead of thinking how things may be, to see them what they are. While exploring new places across the globe, you happen to experience such amiable moments and treasuring them for life. Whenever I get an opportunity to travel, I tend to collect a lot of memorabilia, for instance museum tickets, currency, photos, bus tickets and so many other pieces. Always in the hope that I will make a scrapbook someday, well that ‘someday’ hasn’t come yet! My travel memorabilia is getting compiled in random boxes in my crafts room. But my wait finally came to a standstill when I bumped into my March month’s DT kit. I received Bob n Betty’s latest collection of pattern papers, Voyager. So, I finally came up with the cute little envelope mini album so as to store those knick knacks.

I found the Voyager collection to be ideal for my mini, the designs in the collection are a vivid assortment of stamps and other traveling facets that I find to be ideal for my travel themed project. It even has some awesome travel related accents which you can fussy cut and use.

The mini envelope is an accordion album of 8 pages with tiny 4”x3 ¼” envelopes. I began with 8 envelopes and they turned out to be great and sturdy too.

The envelopes have been held together by an accordion spine shown below.  In order to make it, I cut 6”×4” yellow cardstock and scored at every 3/4″.

JK 4

I stuck an envelope at every fold in the accordion spine, and pasted the pattern paper in the front and behind.

To give it a finishing touch, I added a brad in the front and embellished it with fussy cut accents from the Voyager collection. Wasn’t the easy? Here’s what my finished mini looks like filled with my travel knick knacks.

This album is a warehouse of millions of memories, with fascinating layout. Hope you were impressed with the amazing outcome.

Now I’m off to making more of these, one each for all my trips!

A DREAM Banner made with “Floral Logs” Paper Collection

The incredible blend of innovation and imagination will continue to bring the best outcome from the creative mind. They have no set barriers, follow their heart and speak with their vision. “Imagination is the soil that brings dreams to life”, this amazing quote ignited the creative beast within me and I finally came up with the idea of making a “Dream Banner”. What better could be than using pattern papers from the gorgeous collection at Bob n Betty! For this banner I have used two absolutely stunning paper packs, Floral Logs and Ornate Annie, which are a fusion of nature’s delicacy and floral engravings. Apart from this I used Resin Angel Embellishments Dream Word and Tim Holtz Idea-logy inspiring metal word bands.

For the base I used die cut pennants and glued together 4 card stock die cuts for each pennant to make the base sturdy.

I colored the Prima DREAM letter resins with black soot distress ink with a dash of gold acrylic paint. Similarly color the pennants & also the Tim Holtz word bands to impart coordination.

TS 4

TS 5

I have selected papers from the Floral Logs collection & trimmed them to size to layer over the die cuts. These designs have so much of layering & textures in it so I minimized the usage of too many embellishments.

The Ornate Annie collection has some sheets with tags, envelopes, frames, etc which can be easily fussy cut & I thought it would be perfect to add some interest & provide a good contrast for the resin letters.

Once I had the letters D R E A M placed on the pennants, I embellished them & look at the magic created using these papers! Simply fantastic!!

The metal word bands have some inspiring words which were just perfect to for the theme I had in mind – Imagination & dream! I wanted these to standout clearly on the banner, so added these to square die cuts to the base of the banner.

The glass beads & tassels were just perfect to complete the banner.

I was completely amazed with the outcome and hope you also enjoyed the entire process

A Travel Box made with “Voyager” Paper Collection

“We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us”, travelling enkindles the real human within us. It can take you to dreamland, letting you experience an amazing journey.  But a creative mind doesn’t just stick around the obvious. Imagination can go beyond boundaries, but blending creativity with the fun of travelling is what I thought of doing this time. While looking at the exotic compilation of Bob n Betty Voyager paper, I immediately thought of designing a travel box. But the innovative bug within me could not just allow me to make a simple travel box. It has to be distinct and this gave me the idea of making a “Travel Box“. Voyager collection of pattern paper is gorgeous; with the tempting fusion of stamps, tickets, travel tags & snippets that takes you through a thrilling stroll across the globe.

The outer appearance of the box accords the look of a briefcase. This opens up to two beautifully crafted albums.

‘The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page”, as rightly said, your eyes only see what you want them to. But a wait a moment, there is more to come. The box amazingly opens up from the mid into an alluring picture frame, giving you the option of treasuring special pictures.
