A Glass Bottle, altered with Decoupage Specialty Papers

Hello folks,

There are so many ideas that pop in our mind allowing our creativity to go rampant. Every household piece seems to be an object to try your hands on. What you do with the worn out material at your place? Simply throw them away as a piece of garbage. Perhaps, you are unaware of the fact that they can be altered into beautiful decorative items. So, an empty bottle inspired me to make an altered bottle. Keeping my imagination alive, I began with this month’s project using Bob n Betty’s latest release of Decoupage Specialty Papers. This paper is the best to use for decoupage, it’s a 110 gsm premium paper and is super easy to handle.

The papers I am using here are from peacock theme and without a doubt, it is the best choice for my project owing to its perfect blend of colors and patterns.

Using decoupage technique, I altered this bottle with various kinds of mediums.

I fussy cut the beautiful peacock to be pasted on the bottle. The pattern paper was complete in itself that I used minimal embellishments on the bottle.

The altered bottle can be used for making table lamps or vase adding glitters to the interiors of the home.

Wall Decor Art with Decoupage Specialty Papers

Hey Folks,

Juhi here, hope you all enjoyed the decoupage paper intro video shared yesterday. So, here I am with my project with this gorgeous paper line by Bob n Betty.

The moment I saw this set of paper, the first idea popped in my mind was to create a wall decor. There are 10 designs in this set which makes it ideal for covering a whole wall.

So, I simply took some MDF blanks and started with applying a couple of layers of gesso, followed by a coat of Teal acrylic color mixed with gesso. Once this was dry I applied a coat of Mod Podge and pasted the decoupage paper on the MDF panel. This paper smooth as butter to work with, no wrinkles, no bubbles….hence, no worries 🙂 🙂

Once the glue was dry I sanded the edges till some of the wood showed through. I also rubbed sandpaper onto edges of the paper, this gave it a beautiful weathered and vintage look. Finally finished off the piece with 2 coats of decoupage varnish.

Don’t these look stunning! I’m planning to make at least 4 more to fill up a corner in my living room.

Hey fellas,

Niharika here with my latest DT post.
Well, I am totally obsessed with handbags and just cannot have enough of them. But why not try something innovative with a simple handbag? So, keeping my passion of making photo albums, I decided to amalgamate both the things. Let me make the picture a bit clearer for you all. After striking all the chords of my creativity, I had come up with The Bag-It Album which is a mesmerizing fusion of a handbag with the photo album inside. Photo album is an adorable way of preserving the countless memories of life.
Without delaying it further, I started working on the project using the beautiful pattern papers from Bob n Betty, Roses All Around. Roses define the silent language of love, perceived only by heart. This is the best paper to begin my project as the colors are soothing along with beautiful patterns giving it a filling look.

I avoided over embellishing the album and simply added few journaling tags to coordinate with the design.

Hope you loved my new creation.

Thanks for stopping by..!

A Mixed Media Shadow Box, adorned with Summer Charm Paper Collection

Hello Folks

A simple white cardstock can be a canvas to an artist’s imagination. Creativity is an art allowing you to harness thoughts and ideas and come up with something extraordinary. The uniqueness in creativity comes when you can visualize an unusual thing in a usual object and this gave me the idea for my next DT project. I used a white cardstock to make my mixed media frame. Nothing could have been a better choice than the beautiful assortment of pattern papers from Bob n Betty, “Summer Charm”. The collection consists of soft pastel backgrounds with grunge effects. I simply loved the papers as they do not possess over-powering elements and did complete justice to my mixed media project.

For the mixed media project, I wanted to work on a reverse canvas but did not have it in my stash. However, my excitement made me imitate the reverse canvas effect with a white cardstock. So, I created a shadow box of 6×4 inches and started adorning it with the papers from Summer Charm collection.

I glued different papers from this collection on the entire white area and distressed the edges.

Subsequently I started layering paper pieces inside the box, distressed from the edges. Layering gives the finest volume to almost any project. Applied heavy white gesso with the help of a stencil, to give textures to sides of the box and adhered my favorite honeycomb chipboard cutout.

Then comes the most exciting part….embellishments, I glued down some dyed cheese cloth at the corner, right underneath the white flower and aged leaves. And you can see a vintage keyhole metal charm at the left along with a cute little bird nest.

This time I used papers from Summer Charm Collection only to make the flowers and leaves using various dies. And you can see the outcome; they have turned out so gorgeous.

And here is the final look….

Hope you enjoyed making of the project. Thanks so much for stopping by, your comments and feedback are always appreciated and make my day!

A Mixed Media Wall Frame made with “Summer Charm” Paper Collection

Hello Folks

“Decorating your home artistically gives the illusion that your life is more interesting than it really is”. Stepping into your home after a hectic day should rejuvenate you with positive energy. So, One day, sitting on my bed, I was constantly staring at the front wall of my room. It was plain with no life in it. A thought struck my mind, why not infuse some creativity into it and I decided to finally design a beautiful wall art frame. How to go about it was another question that hovered my mind? After hunting for a while, I decided to use Bob n Betty’s latest collection of pattern papers “Summer Charm” which I received in my DT pack this month. This collection is a must have for all mixed media lovers.  The backgrounds are subtle in shades, yet give a beautiful lift to the project.

Summer implies vacation that covers the beauty of sea beaches, the amazing blue and green sea and fun with water and sand. Keeping all these in mind, I have kept my project as natural as possible. I have used the original color of the appealing seashells and original corals.

The frame comprises of embellishments meshed around a photograph of two brothers enjoying at the beach, along with a small bottle of glitter & sprinkle of glitters in some areas to represent the sand under the sun. The pearls are used to beautify the corners.

I thoroughly enjoyed making this project as it is very close to my heart. Hope you too liked the outcome.

Happy June

A Fridge Magnet made with papers from “Summer Charm” Collection

Hello fellas

In the conceptual art of crafting, even the home appliances seem to be a canvas for painting. This truly reflects the creative hunger of an artist who gives an innovative bend to whatever they perceive. Why not make everything around you beautiful and eye catching? A similar speculation knocked my mind when I saw my fridge standing at the corner, begging for some attention. The moment I received SUMMER CHARM collection from Bob n Betty in this month’s DT Kit, I made my mind to make a “Fridge Magnet”. The project was a bit easy to make as the pattern paper itself had a lot of minute details to be captured. The details were subtle and gave the project more depth appearing to have created multiple layers. The flower design on the paper set was appealing to the eye and reminded of Penny black flower stamp sets, thereby using the Penny black divine stamp set here.

So here is a small walkthrough….

1) I selected the paper and cut it to fit 5X3 inch canvas.
2) Then distressed the edges of the paper, sticking it on the canvas.
3) Used thick gesso to add some texture using Tim Holtz burlap on the top aspect.
4) I stamped the penny black divine stamp first directly onto the pattern paper and secondly on white cardstock. Coloring the flowers red both on the cardstock and on the pattern paper, I cut one of the petals of the flower from the cardstock and added it to the pattern paper used double sided tape to raise it a bit on the pattern paper.

5) I randomly used some mixed media stamps and gave a wash of watered down gesso.

6) Finally for the sentiment used ‘Hello’ from poolside ephemera collection.

For final touches used Viva decor gold paste to add some highlights.

This will now get onto my mom’s fridge where she hoards most of my creations 🙂

Hope you loved the creation

Happy Summers
