Hand Bound Journal Cover Tutorial by Thandar Aye, made with Floral Nymphs Paper Pack

Hello Peeps,

A hobby a day keeps the doldrums away. Everyone who has a hobby will comply with me. If you have something to do, then boredom does not surround you. Since my childhood days, book binding has been my favorite hobby. When I was in my grade school, I used to hand bind my drawings into books and journals. Trust me; I enjoyed doing it to the core of my heart. Owing to my interest in journal binding, I have learnt quite a few different book binding techniques. Over the years, I made it a point to collect a good number of hand bound journals with plain cardstocks or chipboard covers.

For this month project, I decided to make a couple of hand stitch journals. Altering these books and journals seems a great time pass for me. For this enthralling project, I used Floral Nymph pattern paper collection from Bob n Betty. These papers were the best choice as they brought life to my project.

Below is the video showing how these covers have been created along with some trims and hardware from my stash. The techniques shown here can not only be used to cover your journal, but also for covering your planner, notebook, paperback novels or any type of book that you would like a makeover with.

SHABBY CHIC CARDS MADE WITH AMOR MIO PAPER PACK

Hello Friends,

Love is the most profound emotion known to human beings, a feeling that brings one closer to divinity. Love knows no bounds and is free from all shackles of life. And when the heart finds true love, it lasts forever. Life is relived, redefined and reborn when love enters. Amore Mio— My Love opens new gates of emotions for two people.

This beautiful feeling, the essence of love, the romance in this relation is so beautifully captured in the Amore Mio paper collection by Bob n Betty. Each design takes us on a journey where love is paramount. The prints perfectly replicate the feelings of two loving souls.

Using these papers, I have created two shabby chic cards. But there is lot more you can do with these. So have a look at my creations with these wonderfully designed love themed papers.

akamc01

This is a step card. Such dimensional cards are perfect for bringing out the beautiful details of the subject.

To create this card— Measure and cut a card stock 7” x 11”. Score at 2” , 4” and fold to make the first step. Fold down the remaining card stock to coincide the top with the base.

akamc02

Use a similar embellishment made from paper and die cut on the top. Add a mat layer using any spellbinders label die. I have used Go create Dies here. Cut out the design from the pattern paper for the mat layers. Add a circle design at the base on a Spellbinder die. .

Use a similar embellishment made from paper and die cut on the top.

Distress the edges with Aged Mahogany Distress ink. Some texturing is also done using distress inks and stencils.

Decorate the card with Mulberry flowers.

akamc03

The second card is made using the Beautiful frames with roses- a design included in the collection itself.

akamc04

The finished card measures 7.5 “ x 5.5 “ .
Cut out two frames from the paper pad. Remove the middle section keeping the roses intact. Position diagonally on top of each other.
Add a window die cut in the bottom layer. Cut a filigree circle die cut and add at the base and top as shown.
Add some texture using modelling paste and stencil, decorate with mulberry flowers and ribbon.

Add a vellum quote to finish the card.

akamc05

Hope these cards inspired you to create some for your loved ones too.

A Gorgeous Memory Book designed by Niharika Gupta

Hi Friends,

Before i get to my project, I would like to tell you that I just cannot have enough papers from Bob n Betty ever… They are actually addictive you know.. The new designs are beautiful but you cannot stop using the old ones as well….they are so so pretty!

I am here to share one more mini album with you all using one of my favorite collections of papers from Bob n Betty, The Good Old Times.

ngtgot01

My project this week is inspired by the life’s little moments. Sometimes even though you are having a good time, you can’t stop thinking about how much you miss the old times. The new project which is a mini memory album will let you look back at life and think about the good old days you have spent with your friends and family. To bring it to reality, I used the beautiful pattern paper compilation from Bob n Betty, The Good Old Times, as they suited my thought to the core.

This is a simple yet elegant 6/6/3″ Mini album with few flaps which open up & down and I loved the way it turned out.

ngtgot02

Let me tell u something about the cover page now. While making this project, i realized, all the colors are just colors but purple seems to have a soul – when you look at it, it just looks back at you. That is why I chose the purple to be on the cover. I have used the Persian Motifs stamp from Altenew to make these beautiful flowers & I have fussy cut them & then layered them together to give a 3d effect. Along with these stamped flowers I have used the flowers from the same paper and layered them over the printed ones.. it just enhanced the look of the entire cover.

ngtgot03

These papers are so colorful, with bright printed objects that I hardly had to use extra embellishments from my stash.

I loved making this mini album & as ever and I am really grateful that u decided to stop by.

I really wish there was a way to know you are in the good old days before you have actually left them. But, the memory books are the best way to keep those memories alive. I hope you find this inspiring.

JKPB02

JKPB03

I started with an ordinary brown paper bag like the one used in this project. Removed the handles and stuck patterned paper from the “Roses all around” set on all sides while ensuring the gorgeous roses on the paper are used at an advantage.

Added some lace and created foliage by fussy cutting the flowers from the patterned paper sheets and stuck some paper roses. I also added shimmer washi tape to add a little glamour. Finally, I finished the bag by adding vintage ribbon for the handles.

JKPB04

I hope you liked the paper bag and are inspired to make one of your own. Please do leave me your comments/suggestions regarding it I would love to hear from you.

A woman experiences a lot of changes during her nine months of pregnancy which turns out to be memories for life. These memories are your real treasures of life. Have you ever thought of preserving these moments? Being a mother is one of the most beautiful experiences ever. Therefore, in my new project, I decided to give shape to this beautiful journey of being a mother. What could be better than making pregnancy memory keeper. Cute pregnancy keep sake books and journals are the perfect way to track the nine months of maternity changes, cravings, thoughts, and wishes.

My thoughts got wings when I came across the beautiful pattern paper “Summer Charm” in my DT kit this month. Flowers in muted colors on soft backgrounds are simply perfect and best suited for my pregnancy memory keeper as I would call it, “No Barrier” collection. The papers gel up very well together along with a light and soothing tone.

A Hot Air Balloon Gift Box made by Joanna Solecka

Hello Fellas,

Imagination is the beginning of creation. An artist thinks beyond the set boundaries and come up with an innovative and fascinating outcome. I have tried a similar approach in my next project. Have you ever thought of fusing a hot air balloon with a box filled with gifts and chocolates? Indeed it seems interesting. The hot air balloon signifies your dream to soar high which I tried to incorporate in this project. Gifting is a good gesture and amalgamating it with a touch of creativity makes it all the more appealing to the eye.

To weave this delicate idea, I decided to use the gorgeous pattern papers from Bob n Betty, “Floral Nymphs”. These papers with beautifully carved roses on a vintage background did wonders to my project. Along with this, I used some of the embellishments in order to give a beautiful dimension to the gift box.

JSHAB005

JSHAB004

I used these papers to cut the shape of a balloon. It took some time to glue all the pieces together but the effect was simply mesmerising. To give it a final touch, I added few leaves, flowers, and pearls.

JSHAB002

JSHAB003

The box can be used to keep sweet little gifts, chocolates, and other little things to make the day of your special one beautiful.
