Shabby Chic Christmas Cards by Preeti Datta

Hi friends !

Preeti Datta (aka Dutt Preety) here, how’s it going? Hope you are having a pleasant day 🙂

With the winters and holiday season upon us, I thought of making something festive. I’d like to share two Shabby Chic Vintage Themed Christmas Cards today.

I used Bob N Betty’s gorgeous Decoupage papers from the Vintage Wheels Collection as the base, for the vintage look. For the floral elements & to add some color, I used papers from Bob n Betty’s stunning Woodies Collection.

Synopsis of the Process:

Both these cards are 4.5 by 8.5 inches in size. There are multiple layers in the cards, the main panels are made from Decoupage paper (Vintage Wheels Collection). I’ve added hand stitching to the borders, for a finished look & as a textural element. The edges of all the papers and mats were deckled and distressed for a worn out look. Elements used for layering & embellishment include lace, old book papers, torn pieces of scrapbook papers (Woodies Collection), twine, die cuts, wood embellishments, gems, net, gauze, pollens & buttons. Some of the elements were foam mounted to get a 3-d look and white gesso was dry brushed on some of the elements like the pollens to get a more shabby look. In the end, white splatter was created with white acrylic paint, to imitate the look of snow and a few pearls were added using perfect pearls.

Cards made with leftover paper scraps, by Tanya Cloete

Hello Scrappy Friends,

Tanya here with 3 special cards using the BEAUTIFUL Woodies, Coral Cluster and Angels of Eden Collections!

As you all most probably know by now I love using leftover pieces from previous projects to use on cards thus they do not go to waste!

The card for the Coral Cluster Collection is however one of the 6×6 sheets that I used that came included in the paper pack. The die cut swirls was from scraps leftover.

Lots of layering/matting have been done on the cards again. There are a lot of die cut pieces on the cards using various leaf, flower, heart, swirl and word dies. I have also added some additional embellishments as well like flowers, string, butterflies, hearts and flat back pearls.

These cards can be used for any special occasion!

Hope you like them as much as I enjoyed making 🙂

A Wall Decor Corset, designed by Tanya Cloete with Woodies paper pack

Hello Scrappy Friends,

Tanya here with a décor piece project, a wall hanging corset using the stunning Woodies Collection! This collection has such a shabby chic feel to it and is one of my favourites 🙂

This is quite a large corset that I cut and placed on a laser cut wooden hanger. I prefer the wooden hanger to ensure that it does not tear/break as the load of embellishments on the corset itself would be too heavy. I try to pay attention to detail and thus like adding lots of goodies to my projects. The cute little stilettos are actually Christmas tree ornaments that I painted and decorated.

I have also made some paper roses from the collection to match. I normally cut my own sizes to make the roses. Remember to always cut 3 of each of the same size. Mine are various sizes so you can choose how big or small you want yours to be. Should you wish to make your own you can follow this link…

Hope you like this as much as I enjoyed making it!

A Perfect Planner made with Woodies Paper Collection, by Roshni Gupta

Happy Monday Creative Friends…

Roshni here with my new DT post which is just perfect to begin this beautiful New Year.

I picked up an empty planner and revamped it with Bob n Betty’s Woodies Paper Line. Trust me you can make a planner with Bob n Betty papers as good as the readymade planners you get in the market.

Here I have kept the theme as black gold and floral 🙂 I have also used tags and envelopes from Bob n Betty’s Amor Mio, Ornate Annie, and Floral Nymphs collection…. and they all go so well together that you can easily mix and use the paper packs in all most all of your creations.

So, Let’s begin the tour of this beautiful planner.

Hope you all enjoyed going through the pictures.

TeaPot Explosion Box designed by Tanya Cloete

Hello Scrappy Friends,

Tanya here with another project using the stunning Woodies Collection from Bob n Betty..! I love making Explosion Boxes and they are perfect for little gifts!

I thought to try something a little different so I made a Teapot Explosion Box. I have cut a teacup with saucer for the centrepiece of the box. I placed it on a stand to give it a little bit of height and decorated it with flowers and embellishments. You could also add little chocolates to the teacup instead.

I cut two hearts using a die for two of the side flaps where photos can be added. There are also two pocket inserts for the other two side flaps with two matted pieces that can be moved in and out. There is space to write a little message on there or you could add more photos to it as well!

Here is a short flip through of this pretty teapot.

Hope you like this as much as I enjoyed making it!

For this post, I have tried my hands on something absolutely new and stepped into making layouts, I actually realized it was so much fun.. 🙂

So guys, here you go, I have made this ‘Shining Star’ layout using the Woodies collection from Bob n Betty. These are extremely beautiful papers, with vibrant flowers on the wooden textured backdrop. Take a look…

I have used a 12/12 wooden shadow box for this layout & my daughter’s picture here which was clicked on her second birthday 🙂

The frame was painted in black using acrylic paints, and then decorated using 4 papers from the collection. Few flowers and leaves are fussy cut from the papers itself, and few are the mulberries from my stash.

I loved the way it came out, the colors, the flowers, the picture, i just loved everything about it, hehe… I hope you guys like it too… :

3D Decoupage, A project designed by Jaanhvi Hinduja with Woodies Paper Collection

Hello my beautiful friends!

Today I’m going share a lovely and super easy technique with Bob and Betty papers – 3-dimensional decoupage! We know that this technique is traditionally done with specially designed papers, but I wanted to experiment it with the lovely floral elements that bob n betty has been designing for us, and the results have been superb! Without talking much, here I share the detailed step-by-step procedure:

Step 1 – I have used the woodies stack for this project, as the floral elements were really appealing. I did a basic decoupage on a wooden box.  Applied varnish and kept it for drying.

Step 2 – Then I fussy cut the flowers from the second sheet of the same pack I chose the bigger flowers and some highlight leaves for fussy cutting. You don’t need to be too perfect but greater precision will surely get you better results.

Step 3 – I embossed the cut flowers and leaves with my embossing tool.  The paper is sturdy enough to withstand embossing. Tip: for flowers move away from the centre towards the tip of the petals. Then reverse the flowers and emboss the centre.  Do the embossing gently.

Step 4 – I like my projects to be maintenance free, easy to clean and last long.  Therefore, in the next step, I applied a thin layer of mod podge on the flowers, and let it dry for an hour or so.

Step 5 – The woodies papers have some lovely distressed cracked wooden background, so I wanted to highlight the flowers with similar effect.  I applied the clear crackle over the flowers and let it dry. Tip : Apply thick coat at some places and thinner elsewhere.  Thicker coat gives you larger cracks and thinner ones smaller. It needs to rest for at least 20 to 30 mints.  I prefer letting them drying on their own.

Step 6 – Apply the vintage distress ink over the flowers and leaves and then rub with your index finger.  Wipe off the excess ink with a clean cotton cloth. This will highlight the cracks.

Step 7 – Though I achieved what I wanted, but I feared the flowers getting squashed over a period of time or during shipment. So I filled the embossed cavities with heat gun glue. You need to do this very slowly as the flowers are tiny.  Allow them to dry. Now I have the 3-d flowers that are sturdy and will last long.

Step 8 – Now the most exciting step, to put everything together! I stuck the 3-d flowers and petals on the decoupaged box with strong glue. I’ve used fevibond, however glossy accent or e6000 can also be used. Tip: after applying the glue on the flowers let it dry for a few seconds before adhering.  This way when you press the flowers,  the excess glue won’t come out and the project shall be neat.

Step 9 – I finished the floral bunch with some paper flowers, pearls, blings and sentiment tiles.

Step 10 – As I had made this box for a beautiful girl’s wedding trousseau, I used some lace and a fancy button with tassel to complete the look.

Hope you try out this technique with the versatile Bob n Betty papers and share your projects with us.

Till then,
Happy crafting!
