Hi friends 🙂

Preeti Datta (aka Dutt Preety) here. How are you today?

There are only a few days left in the month of April and Bob n Betty will soon be celebrating it’s 3rd Birthday on 28th April, yay!! That’s tomorrow!! Everyone at the Bob n Betty family is very thankful to all it’s patrons & supporters. To celebrate, there is an awesome giveaway & a Mega Contest, to check out all the details & for your chance to win superb prizes, please visit the Bob n Betty Facebook page. Don’t miss this awesome opportunity, there is very little time left to participate 🙂

Today, I’d like to share a set of 2 Layered Vintage Cards I made using Bob n Betty’s beautiful new range of Decoupage Specialty Papers- “Meadows” and “Classics”. I also included a few elements from the “Glam Craft” collection. Both the cards are big sized, 5 by 9 inches. When I saw the pretty butterflies, birds and flowers, I was inspired by the theme of nature, so I added the title “Wild & Free” using alphabet beads, to both the cards.

The new Decoupage Specialty Paper Collections are perfect for vintage themed projects and they coordinate brilliantly with all the previous releases. It is super fun & easy to mix and match elements. The designs are gorgeous and these decoupage papers can be used for all kinds of paper crafting projects including decoupage, cards, scrapbooks, canvases, tags, art journalling etc. I would highly recommend checking out the numerous great examples on the Bob n Betty blog and Instagram page, made by the Design Teams over the years. It really is worth the time.

“Sparkling Eyes” a mixed media layout by Riddhi Jani, featuring ‘Classics’ collection.

Hello everyone,

Riddhi here with a new DT project for Bob n Betty.

The mere sight of an Owl is enough to send shivers down the spine, but I do not find any reason to fear this beautiful bird. Just a look at those sparkling eyes melts my heart. So to endure my love for this gorgeous bird I have designed a mixed media layout, using a paper from the “Classics” collection of decoupage specialty papers range by Bob n Betty.

I simply took a Bob n Betty’s chipboard sheet, adhered my paper and started playing with the colors and textures and here is the outcome….

Do leave your valuable comments if you liked my work.

Process:

Took an 8 by 10 Canvas Board & applied a thick layer of heavy white gesso on it. To create texture in the background, created grooves in the wet gesso with the end of a paint brush & added few mini beads. Once, it was dry, sprayed on colors. For the focal image & titles, fussy cut elements from one of the papers in the Classics Collection, created a nest with sisal, dry hay, colored gauze, feathers and then adhered the owl & titles to it. Also, added flowers, die cuts, wood slices & lace around the nest to form a visually pleasing composition. Then did background stamping with black archival ink and for shine, applied Prima’s Metallique waxes to the background. For additional texture & shine, applied Finnabair’s art stones & glass glitter using 3d Matte Gel to some of the areas.  Then, dry brushed some white gesso onto the flowers and created white ink splatter. In the end, distressed the edges of the canvas with black soot distress ink.

A Tea Chest designed by Jaanhvi Hinduja, featuring “Classics” collection

What is it about the old world that calls out to us in the 21st century? Old books, cameras, cassettes, bikes and cars – I so love them! I think the old world  was all about sophistication and glamour thrown in a good measure. Well! If you are somewhat a  vintage lover like me – Our new decoupage paper pack, ‘ Classics’  is right for you. With vintage elements thrown in the backdrop of old book pages, classic scripts and sober colour palette, just fill my mind with possibilities of creating some wonderful projects for my home 🙂
I will be sharing some of the projects that I make here for all of you in the days ahead. The first being a vintage tea chest that I’ve done with one of my favourite print from this collection.
Tea is intended to be savoured and tea time allows you to slow down and take a deep breath even when life is at its craziest. For those few comforting moments of your mornings, a beautiful chest to store your favourite flavours is an icing on the cake – isn’t it?
Let’s begin with a brief process to making one for your table –
I took a wooden tea chest, sanded and cleaned it nicely and painted the entire surface inside and out with an off-white chalk paint. Chalk paints have come to become a boon for decoupage lovers as it does away the need to prime the surface and gives a smooth finish. Next, I used masking tape to create stripes on the lower outer sides of the box and the inner lid. Then, painted the unmasked areas with blue paint (matched to the butterfly of the print). After removing the tape, I used a border stencil with texture paste to create an ornate border. When the border dried I painted it with watered down blue paint so that the stripes behind do not show strikingly. Next I decoupaged the outer lid with the butterfly print and did some random vintage script stamping.
I decoupaged a coaster with the remaining bit of paper. Applied varnish on the entire box. Next came the fun part to create a beautiful vintage English look on the box. I achieved this with my favourite product – antiquing wax. Have a look at the pictures how antiquing makes the border stand out and gives a warm vintage look to it. Finally, I pasted the coaster in the inside lid and adorned it with jute trims.
Hope you like the project! I’ll be more than glad to answer any queries that you may have in case you wish to make one for yourself.
I’ll share more projects with the new releases soon, and would love to hear what interests you and design my projects accordingly.
Till then, enjoy your tea:)
Love,
Jaanhvi
