Art Journaling with Decoupage Papers (Photo Tutorial) by Preeti Datta

Hi Folks!

Preeti D. (aka Dutt Preety) here. Hope you’ve had a pleasant week so far. I thought I’ll share a couple of Art Journal Pages with you today :). I’ve used Bob n Betty’s gorgeous Decoupage papers here. There are so many stunning designs and you can choose to buy them as a whole collection or even in individual sets, which is pretty cool. The papers are slightly textured, which makes them great to work with and they can be used in different ways.

For the uninitiated, Art Journaling is a wonderful way to artistically express oneself without the limitation of style/form/medium. You don’t need to worry about perfection or errors. Essentially you can do whatever you like in your journal, so for example, you could paint, draw, write, do watercoloring, add 3-d elements to it, keep it flat, make it a junk-journal of collected ephemera and lil’ treasures from trips, add texture, use snippets of pattern papers etc… Its your little art book where you can experiment freely. To start, you can purchase a blank Art Journal, there are many available in craft stores or else use an old book or even journal on separate papers and bind them together later to make your own journal. The basic idea here is to create something for yourself, something that gives you joy. If you are totally new to art journaling, 2 great sources of inspiration are Marta Lapkowska and Vicky Papaioannou.

Let’s get started.
